1) Initial : Initial USCG type approval of Ballast Water Management System (BWMS)
2) Change : USCG type approval for changes to the approved BWMS, including the addition of alternate components (e.g. filter, sensors, etc.)
3) Renewal : The application for renewal of the certificate is limited to the following cases.
     - It is necessary to re-evaluate whether or not the approved BWMS can be installed on U.S. flag vessels.
     - The renewal of the certificate and the USCG type approval for changes to the approved BWMS are intended to proceed simultaneously.
